The Distant Reader

The Distant Reader is both a command-line application and a Web-based service enabling the student, researcher, or scholar to analyze narrative texts at scale. Examples include:

  • for college students, the totality of assigned readings in Philosophy 101
  • for graduate students, every item in a dissertation's bibliography
  • for researchers, the whole of a comprehensive literature review, or
  • for scholars, the complete works of a given author or genre

As it gets moved from one host to another, the Web-based interface is currently offline. It is expected to be back online by the Fall semester. Wish me luck.
