In order to establish that the SVR in the triple therapy arm is at least three times higher than the 18% sustained response rate observed in HIV-co-infected patients treated with interferon and ribavirin in pilot studies [4] [5] [6] [7] , it was calculated that at least 64 patients should have been enrolled.
