The previous studies have showed that the DE measured by ultrasound could be used to assess respiratory effort, and while diaphragmatic thickening fraction was shown to be correlated strongly with diaphragm strength and ventilator support level, the right DE assessed by ultrasound was more reliable, more feasible, and more repeatable [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] . Therefore, the aim of our study was to explore the value of the right DE and its variation assessed by ultrasound in predicting extubation outcome in mechanically ventilated patients with COPD. ./cache/cord-010970-f79rnhc5.txt ./txt/cord-010970-f79rnhc5.txt
