Given the challenges associated with the heterogeneity of this patient population, the aim of this study was to isolate a specific cohort of infants with severe LUTO caused by PUV who presented and had intervention in the first week of life, to evaluate renal outcomes and early predictive factors. Covariates included birth gestational age, race, prenatal, and postnatal ultrasound (US) findings, presence of vesicoureteral reflux, nadir creatinine in first year of life, duration of follow-up, other renal or urologic surgical interventions, and any respiratory support required during the newborn or follow-up period. In this cohort, 50% of infants with PUV who presented and required catheter or surgical urinary tract decompression in the first week of life developed significant renal insufficiency or ESRD during the study period. ./cache/cord-011242-4e2krzxe.txt ./txt/cord-011242-4e2krzxe.txt
