Radiographic staging of osteonecrosis was developed by Ficat and Arlet 17 and was modified for the ankle by Mont and Colleagues 18 Stage 1 is defined as no radiographic findings, stage 2 is defined as cystic lesion and/or sclerotic change in the talus, stage 3 is defined as crescent sign or collapse in the subchondral bone, and stage 4 is defined as joint space narrowing. Sclerotic change in the talar body would be observed even in cases without severe collapse in the talus (Fig. 1) .
