During Tiberius's reign, Jews had become more prominent in Rome, and Jewish and Gentile followers of Jesus Christ began proselytizing Roman citizens, increasing long-simmering resentments. Tiberius married Vipsania Agrippina, the daughter of Augustus' close friend and greatest general, Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa.[13] He was appointed to the position of praetor, and was sent with his legions to assist his brother Drusus in campaigns in the west.
