Previous studies found that the antiviral drug remdesivir, which was developed against the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of Ebola virus, was also active against SARS-CoV-2 in vitro, with promising results in clinical trials (5) (6) (7) . Both cepharanthine and tetrandrine were previously shown to have antiviral activity against the human coronavirus OC43 and in recent studies on SARS-CoV-2 in Vero cell screens (13, 62, 63) .
