Previously we have developed the plasmid vector p1.1, containing large fragments of non-coding DNA from the EEF1A1 gene of the Chinese hamster and fragment of the Epstein-Barr virus long terminal repeat concatemer [21] and employed it for unusually high-level expression of various proteins in CHO cells, including blood clotting factors VIII [22] , IX [23] , and heterodimeric follicle-stimulating hormone [24] .
