The findings of these 2 assays had been validated previously with the use of serum specimens obtained from patients with serologically confirmed SARS, and the sensitivity and specificity of the N antigen-capture ELISA were documented [4] [5] [6] . Although none of the 4 index case patients showed evidence of secondary spread of the infection [1] , the direct detection of SARS-CoV N protein by the highly sensitive CIA a Serum samples in a serial 2-fold dilution (from 10-fold to 5120-fold).
