METHODS: We identified close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases in northeast Chongqing who were RT-PCR+ yet remained asymptomatic throughout their infections. In December 2019 a novel coronavirus, which was later named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), caused a large outbreak of infectious disease, designated COVID-19. Symptomatic COVID-19 patients and asymptomatic cases are both a source of infection and patients in the incubation period can transmit SARS-CoV-2 to other persons [7] [8] [9] [10] .
