GBV-A viruses have been described in New World primates and are not known to infect humans [17] [18] [19] , while GBV-C (also known as Hepatitis G virus (HGV)) have frequently been isolated from humans in many regions of the World, including India and Bangladesh [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] , and from wild chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) in Africa [24, 25] . Our findings provide new insight into the range of known hosts for GB-like viruses and demonstrate the power of unbiased sequencing to characterize the diversity of potentially zoonotic pathogens carried by bats and other reservoirs.
