Figure 2 shows Northern blots of polyribosomal RNA extracted from CYMV-infected tissue containing the 1.2-kb RNAs. The 7.0-kb gRNA is identified by all probes (Fig. 2 , lanes a, c, e, g, i, and k; probes 1 to 6), but the 1 .O-kb sgRNA encoding coat protein hybridizes only to probes corresponding to the 3' region of the gRNA (Fig. 2 , lanes i and k; probes 5 and 6).
