A study published by our lab also demonstrated that nsp5, the 3C-like protease of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), which is classified into the Alphacoronavirus family, antagonizes IFN-β production by cleavage of NEMO . In this study, we reveal that nsp5 of PDCoV antagonizes the type I IFN signaling pathway through the cleavage of NEMO, a critical constituent of the IKK complex, thus representing a newly identified mechanism by which PDCoV evades the innate immune response. In contrast, TBK1induced activation of the IFN-β promoter was not affected by nsp5 (Fig. 3A) , suggesting that PDCoV nsp5 inhibits RIG-I/MDA5 signaling by targeting NEMO or other upstream proteins. ./cache/cord-297712-yy4g5npi.txt ./txt/cord-297712-yy4g5npi.txt
