Among the eight nisin variants examined, nisin H, nisin Z, nisin U and nisin A showed a significant binding affinity towards hACE2, higher than that of the RBD (receptor binding domain) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The present study attempts to investigate the ability of food-grade nisin A and its natural variants to block the interaction between hACE2 and the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, a key step of COVID-19 disease initiation. The binding affinity of docked structures of all eight variants of nisin in complex with hACE2 was calculated as ΔG derived from analysis with Prodigy for each complex in comparison with the RBD of spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. ./cache/cord-353748-y1a52z8e.txt ./txt/cord-353748-y1a52z8e.txt
