Our genomic analyses indicated that the Korean isolate KNU-141112 is genetically stable during the first 30 passages in cell culture and is grouped within subgroup G2b together with the recent re-emergent Korean strains. Our data indicated that KNU-141112 isolate is relatively stable during the first 30 passages in cell culture and is classified into subgroup G2b that includes PEDV strains responsible for recent severe outbreaks in Korea and the US. Although virus isolation in cell culture from clinical samples of naturally or experimentally infected pigs is fastidious, recent studies reported the successful isolation and propagation of several US original PEDV strains using Vero cells (Chen et al., 2014; Oka et al., 2014) .
