Overall, since most of the people living in Africa, especially those dwelling in rural and peri-urban settlements depend on surface and groundwater resources for their domestic water supply, the risk of contracting COVID-19 through SARS-CoV-2 contaminated water is very high and thus, the sources and routes of community spread of the virus, which is currently being reported must be critically re-examined.
