The keywords and their variants (differently combined) used for the search were "COVID-19", "2019-nCoV", "2019 novel coronavirus", "SARS-CoV-2", "D-dimer", "coagulation", "hypercoagulative state", "laboratory analysis", "ARDS", "haemostasis", "thrombosis", "pulmonary embolism", "disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)", "heparin" and "anti-coagulation". The alterations of coagulation factors during SARS-CoV-2 infection and specifically that of D-dimer are, as documented in the clinical experiences described here, severe, constant and correlated with prognosis, complications and CEP rates.
