An example of negative media during pandemic policing is reports coming from South Africa state that just days into their 21-day lockdown as a result of COVID-19, police are abusing their powers in multiple ways while enforcing their newly enhanced powers enacted from their Disaster Management Act: assaultive behaviour by police and the death of three people at the hands of law enforcement officers (Faull, 2020) .
