About half of hospitalized patients are > 55 years [9] : the resulting higher age-related risk of neurodegenerative disorders is a good setting to investigate triggering and double-hit mechanisms previously hypothesized for viral infections [4] . To sum up, the current Covid-19 pandemic provides an extraordinary window to implement a worldwide collaborative effort, aimed at enlightening the largely unexplored relationship between viral infections, inflammation, and brain disorders.
