Characteristics, outcome and predictors of in-hospital mortality in an elderly population from a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in a long-term care facility. 2020-07-02 .txt text/plain 2978 213 52 We conducted a retrospective, observational cohort study to assess clinical characteristics and baseline predictors of mortality of COVID-19 patients hospitalized after an outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection in a LTCF. Our study shows a high in-hospital mortality rate in a cohort of elderly patients with COVID-19 and hypernatremia, lymphopenia, CVD other than hypertension, and higher IL-6 serum levels were identified as independent predictors of in-hospital mortality. Herein, we report clinical characteristics, outcome (inhospital mortality), and prognostic factors in a cohort of 50 patients as part of an outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection in an Italian LTCF. In the present study, clinical characteristics and outcome of a cohort of 50 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who were transferred from a LTCF to the Infectious and Tropical Disease Unit of "Mater Domini" Teaching Hospital, Catanzaro, Italy are described. To the best of our knowledge, the present is the first study investigating clinical characteristics, mortality and prognostic factors of a complete cohort of patients during a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in a LTCF. ./cache/cord-308155-696bhy9v.txt ./txt/cord-308155-696bhy9v.txt
