We reviewed relevant articles focusing on the mechanism of action of intravesical BCG and chemotherapy, including systemic outcomes and side effects from intravesical treatment, and its safety and efficacy in immunocompromised patients or those with acute immunological disorders. Search terms included "SARS-CoV-2" or "COVID-19" combined with "immune response", "intravesical BCG" combined with "bladder cancer", "urothelial carcinoma", "adverse events", "side effects", "mechanism of action", "immunocompromised" and "immunological disease".
