A survey on the gendered division of childcare in Iceland during the COVID-19 semi-lockdown showed that 42 per cent of women who work for the state or a municipality stayed at home with their children whereas only 30 per cent of men did so (BSRB -The Federation of State and Municipal Employees, 2020). Several participants felt the need to emphasize how responsible parents prioritize the needs of the children above the needs of paid work, particularly in the stories about Anna. We see stories where happiness is found once the parents, mostly the mothers, fight off the demands of neoliberal parenthood to redefine what is a good and worthy life. ./cache/cord-326355-oyspjx20.txt ./txt/cord-326355-oyspjx20.txt
