COVID-19 is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Herein, we report a case of COVID-19 who presented with acute pancreatitis (AP) without any other risk factors. COVID-19 pathogenesis is thought to be mediated by angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2) receptor on the host cells, which are highly expressed in the pancreatic islets (4) Although clear pathogenesis is unknown, AP in COVID19 could occur due to the direct cytopathic effect of local SARS-CoV-2 replication or indirectly by harmful immune response induced by the virus. Nevertheless, our understanding of clinical manifestations of COVID-19 continues to progress, and this case illustrates that SARS-CoV-2 can precipitate AP in the setting of COVID-19.
