In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between human mobility and COVID-19 2 infection, and to assess the mediating role of air quality on this association, based on data from 120 cities in China. We also controlled the logarithm of the number of confirmed new cases in city i on day t-1 to account for potential serial correlation In the second part, we conducted the mediation analysis to test our hypothesis that air quality could partially mediate the association of human mobility with COVID-19 infection.
