In the current issue of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Salna and colleagues reported a case of urgent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) whose postoperative course was complicated with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) caused by COVID-19 infection (3). It has been shown that there are a variety of manifestations of COVID-19, but the effect of the virus on cardiovascular system is still being defined (4, 5) There is also little data about the impact of COVID-19 infection on the clinical outcomes of cardiac surgery.
