Although there is no approved drug to prevent or treat SARS-CoV-2 infection yet, the COVID-19 pandemic led to a wide empirical and off-label use of LPV/r by clinicians despite the lack of any strong evidence or convincing scientific rationale. As the Nice RCPV has drug-induced Long QT syndrome and cardiac safety of drugs within its scope of expertise, in March 2020, the National drug Agency (ANSM) appointed us to investigate all cases of cardiotoxicity associated with the empirical use of LPV/r against COVID-19 that had spontaneously been reported by any of the 31 RCPVs.
