Pneumocystis jirevocii pneumonia is an opportunistic infection affecting patients with cellular immunity defects due to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections or iatrogenic immunosuppression [15, 16] . Here, we report the fatal case of a SARS-CoV-2 and Pneumocystis jirevocii co-infection in a kidney transplant recipient. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first case of co-infection between SARS-CoV-2 and Pneumocystis jirevocii reported in Europe in a kidney transplant recipient.
