However, recent researches pointed to a possible underreporting scenario owing to the unprecedented increase in deaths from causes clinically similar to COVID-19, such as SARS, respiratory failure and pneumonia, and due to the low number of tests carried out by the state in comparison with the others, according to data obtained through the Minas Gerais Department of Health (7).
