Yet the most critical challenge with erasure coding is that it suffers from high reconstruction cost as it needs to access multiple blocks stored across different sets of storage nodes or racks (groups of nodes inside a distributed system) in order to retrieve lost data [7] , leading to high read access and network bandwidth latency.
