Baseline characteristics will be presented for the two study groups (Additional file 1: Table S1 ) including age, sex, and body mass index, the presence of co-infections, nosocomial versus community-acquired MERS infection, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APA-CHE) II scores, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment scores, and the Karnofsky Performance Status Scale score [3] .
