We conducted a review of the most current publications on the state of prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes mellitus across LatAm. By laying out a detailed accounting of what is known, we aim to identify population, clinical, and health care needs, and opportunities for future research studies and potential interventions. The number of epidemiological studies published since 2005 indicates greater public health awareness about diabetes mellitus across LatAm.
