History of development of cardiopulmonary bypass technology and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) help us understand the changes in medical science over the last century. South and West Asia chapter of ELSO (SWAC ELSO) [7] was established in the year 2013 as a result of combined efforts of the members of ECMO Society of India and Extracorporeal Life Support Organization, ELSO.
