Although this lack of representation is not necessarily a sign of a lack of participation in the international scientific debate, the few opportunities German researchers have to engage in global child health research and education at universities suggest that this is, in fact, the case. Many opportunities exist for paediatricians and other health workers caring for children to engage with the realities of global child health in research and education.
