Cox regression showed that the age of SLE onset and damage score accrued at 10 years, but not the time period in which SLE was diagnosed, were significantly associated with mortality. Organ damage, mortality, and causes of death in the first 10 years of SLE diagnosis were also compared between the two groups. Covariates included in the model were age of SLE onset, sex, SDI score, renal involvement, ever use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) within 10 years of diagnosis, and time period in which patients were diagnosed.
