Given that sampling for PCR testing is not a pleasant experience, requiring swabs to be inserted into the nasopharynx, the research team is to be applauded for achieving a response rate of 66%. It is important to recognise that the responses to this pandemic themselves have consequences for health, for example by reducing access to medical care for those with non-COVID illnesses.
