It is the fundamental system of physical medicine and rehabilitation and is recommended in the fields of diagnosis and coding, evaluation, and interventions of functioning to maximize patients' functioning at three levels: (1) body function and structure; (2) activity and participation; and (3) environmental factors and personal factors.
