Keywords employed in the search strategy included terms related to health literacy as well as the viruses and syndromes implicated in the three coronavirus pandemics which were namely COVID-19, MERS and SARS. Studies which evaluated health literacy related to COVID-19, SARS or MERS among adult participants aged ≥ 18 years old from the general population, healthcare sectors and infected patients were included.
