The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Brazil was on February 26th in the city of São Paulo and, since March 17th, the state of São Paulo has recommended a series of social distancing measures. Considering the significant expected burden of the COVID-19 pandemic, nonpharmacological interventions are necessary to flatten the epidemic curve and prepare the public response to the shortage of ICU beds and healthcare workers needed to treat critically ill patients (4).
