In addition to classical epigenetic modifications, a variety of ncRNAs have been uncovered in different cells and organs including adipose tissues, many of which are involved in the regulation of adipogenesis and other metabolic processes implying their role in the etiology of obesity [69] . Emerging evidence from in vitro and in vivo animal studies suggest that circRNAs are expressed in adipose tissues and may modulate adipogenesis and lipid metabolism.
