Given that obesity is a prevalent, persistent, serious, complex, chronic, and relapsing disease among the general population [3] , it is important that we pay special attention to these challenges especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and when planning management of the aftermath to avoid placing an even greater burden on individuals, health systems, and society over the short, medium, and long term.
