Hence, obesity represents a great risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection, as it may hide the viral-associated altered ONS symptoms, thus leading to a high mortality rate in these subjects. Moreover, the number of immunosuppressive T-regulatory, Treg (CD4 + CD25 + Foxp3 + ) cells and concentrations of IL-6, IL-10, and C-reactive protein (CRP) were upregulated in patients with severe COVID-19 [18] , suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 infection may lead to "over-immunosuppression" in the case of obesity ( Figure 1 ).
