And now, with a viral pandemic sweeping across the globe, geriatricians are actively involved in the clinical care of vast numbers of older people in the community and in hospital settings. Social distancing and the restriction of movement, with a clear call to stay at home and thus prevent exposure to other people who may be a source of coronavirus infection, is in accordance with the World Health Organization's efforts to limit the spread of the virus. Older people who are cognitively and/or functionally impaired and are living at home are usually cared for by nursing assistants.
