Exogenous lipoid pneumonia (ELP) is a rare condition resulting from aspiration or inhalation of oil-based substances, with both acute and chronic forms. All patients satisfied the following diagnostic criteria: clinical presentation of acute respiratory or febrile illness combined with either radiological features diagnostic of lipoid pneumonia, or confirmation of the exogenous origin of the lipid through BAL. For each patient, the authors collected demographic data, clinical presentation, imagenological characteristics, categories of oil ingested, laboratory data, treatment, therapy response, BAL findings, and outcomes. The index study demonstrates that multiple BALs combined with steroid therapy result in significant improvement of clinical, radiologic and laboratory parameters in children with acute ELP. ./cache/cord-006363-xov4xwpa.txt ./txt/cord-006363-xov4xwpa.txt
