The twelve patients who were discharged to an SNF were significantly older (mean age 79.0 versus 73.6 years old [p = 0.01]), had a higher ASA classification (ASA 3-4 58% versus 29% [p = 0.05]), used more medication (% polypharmacy 92% versus 50% [p = 0.00]) and were more often living alone or in a nursing home before surgery (50% versus 30%, 17% versus 0% [p = 0.00]).
