Leadership in public health	2009		.txt	text/plain	6342	405	56	In fact, recent years have seen a crescendo of calls to reinvigorate leadership education and training, because "today, the need for leaders is too great to leave their emergence to chance." 3-5 Such leaders could help further social justice and the common good by promoting the values captured in the preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization-"the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being." 6 To advance such training, the Association of Schools of Public Health has identified leadership as a core competency area in the Master of Public Health Competency Model for 2007.
