DESIGN: We developed and disseminated a survey, which included the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-Item Scale (GAD-7), to all general and integrated plastic surgery residents in their clinical years of training at the University of California, San Francisco. We hypothesized that the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant surge planning required to prepare for it would have a marked impact on the surgical resident training experience and that the inflexible realities of this time would have a significant emotional toll on surgical residents across different ranks and hospital sites. Because we were interested in the impact of COVID-19 on clinically active surgical residents, general and plastic surgery residents in protected research years were excluded from the survey. ./cache/cord-321088-5gu7rnhj.txt ./txt/cord-321088-5gu7rnhj.txt
