Inpatient EDX studies should only be performed in urgent situations, in patients with severe deficits, and in whom EDX testing is likely to appreciably alter management by establishing a diagnosis or leading to a specific treatment. Accepted Article report of GBS in association with COVID-19 highlights the usefulness of EDX studies in differentiating causes of acute weakness in a critically ill patient, including potentially treatable conditions.
