Inhibitory effect of the CWE fraction containing highmolecular-weight compounds on signaling molecules in LPS-stimulated macrophages In addition, LPS-induced IκBα degradation and MAP kinase phosphorylation in macrophages was strongly inhibited by the polyphenol-rich CWE fraction. Oral administration of CWE decreased serum levels of LPS-induced TNF-α and IL-6, but such anti-inflammatory activity was attenuated in the high dose group. The inhibitory effect of CWE on the signaling pathways mediated by NF-κB and MAP kinases occurred in its polyphenol-rich high MW fraction. CWE inhibited IκBα degradation and MAP kinase activation in LPS-stimulated macrophages in vitro.
