The VT2y toxin induced apoptosis in Vero, HeLa, CHO, CEF (primary chicken embryo fibroblast) and PCK (primary chicken kidney) cell lines. The aim of this study is to illustrate the morphological and intracellular alterations induced in vitro by cytotoxin VT2y in Vero, HeLa, CHO, HEp-2, PCK and CEF cell lines. The cytotoxin VT2y caused morphological alterations in Vero cells, such as cytoplasm vacuolization, blebbing of the plasma membrane, chromatin condensation within the nucleus, nuclear shrinkage and apoptotic bodies within 15 min.
