Reply to the Letter to the Editor: Symptomatic Pulmonary Embolus After Joint Arthroplasty: Stratification of Risk Factors Javad Parvizi MD, FRCS, Ronald Huang MD, Ibrahim J. Raphael MD, William V. Arnold MD, PhD, Richard H. Rothman MD, PhD To the editor, W e read with interest the letter from Eroglu and colleagues related to our recently published article entitled ‘‘Symptomatic Pulmonary Embolus After Joint Arthroplasty: Stratification of Risk Factors’’ [1]. Eroglu and colleagues have clearly invested extensive time and exercised great intellect to propose some interest- ing and plausible mechanisms by which iron deficiency anemia could result in an increase in venous thromboembolism, an observation of our study. The explanations offered were truly insightful and will benefit the readers also. We want to thank them for sharing their knowledge and wisdom with us and other readers. Reference 1.
